UPDATES: Thomas Cook Awards $400M outsourcing contract, Africa Wants a Piece of the Pie & the Philippines Broaded its Outsourcing Industrty

In outsourcing today, Thomas Cook awarded a $400 million outsourcing contract to Accenture for the management of its software applications and technology infrastructure, plus finance, accounting, and human resources services.

In Africa, states are now looking forward to seizing economic opportunities from outsourcing as its IT infrastructure with its improved IT infrastructure.

For the meantime, one of outsourcing’s favorite destinations is moving forward to increase its share of the global market. Despite the incentives currently available to outsourcing companies, the Philippine government is being urged to widen its support for the firms involved in the industry through help in the implementation of the Worldmap 2010. The country’s outsourcing industry currently employs 235,000 people and the figure continuous to grow as more and more companies are being established and as the existing players expand like there’s no tomorrow. One related item in the news is the eyeing of additional cities as hosts of the industry’s expansion.
