Western Recession To Boost Outsourcing

Last week, the headlines screamed threats of decline in the outsourcing business. I kept my peace about it but now, may I assure the competitive companies that they are most probably headed for good times. Recession in the western countries will most probably result to cost cuts and job layoffs but not all such moves are meant to reduce the size of operations.

Some jobs are actually being culled only to be outsourced offshore. Good companies are therefore headed for expansion but the so-so ones are headed for bad times.

Work Within Thy Neighborhood

One good home based (outsourced job) is that of a roof cleaner. A roof cleaner can make a living taking care of neighbors roofs and the demand for such service increases drastically during winter and periods of weather difficulty. Since roof cleaning carries certain hazards with it, a roof cleaner can actually charge a bit of premium and make good money working in his/ her neighborhood.

Measures To Retain Good Employees

Outsourcing companies take great measures to make sure that their facilities are beautiful, functional and comfortable for its employees. Such measures are undertaken to prevent employee migration to competitors, which is very common in areas where a good number of outsourcing companies are located. Simple solutions such as the installation of elegant bar faucets are probably a good idea. Bar faucets are elegant looking and functional in the sense that it lessens the probability of glasses banging against faucets. With the installation os such kind of devices, the incidence of broken glasses are minimized.

Greeting My Outsourcing Clients

Some of the things that I want to send to my clients in the outsourcing include photo holiday cards. With most of the clients being situated far from my offshore facilities, a photo card during holiday seasons provide a personal touch to sincere holiday wishes that one wants to impart. Greeting cards are inexpensive and very special connection, especially if the message is handwritten.

Health Notes

I previously thought that staying up late at work is a natural fat burner. I was never so mistaken. Long working hours and late nights in the office simply made me eat terribly and that resulted in weight gain— lots of it. Working late nights and lack of sleep surely has negative implications on people’s health but most definitely, it is not a remedy for people seeking to lose weight. Exercise, diet and perhaps, medication prescribed by a licensed doctor, should do the trick.

Sunday Night Thoughts

In my books, there is no better man than the ones than the man who can claim having worked his best and attained success while making sure that the people that he worked and competed with were dealt with fairly. In this day and age where money had become the only god to a lot of people, I am lucky to have encountered a few who I think, had stayed true to their yuthful idealisms.

The Importance of Installing Exit Signs in BPO Firms

Outsourcing company’s should make visible and prominent the exit sign in their facilities. This is not because I have gotten lost inside these facilities more than once, fires, earthquakes, power blackouts and other possible panic situations might erupt and make safe exits difficult for the thousands of employees of outsourcing companies. As a safety officer, I believe that high population density areas should be fully equipped with redundant safety systems.

Possible Safety Measures in BPO Firms

Just like a good las vegas strip map, addresses of bpo companies employees should be obtained by their companies Human Resources Departments (HRD’s). In the event that employees fail to report a tardiness or signal a “Home and Safe” code, company officers should take it upon themselves to retrace the employee’s possible routes in order to locate them. That may be taking it a bit too far but an ounce of prevention is much better than a pound of bad publicity and legal cases, in the event that an employee becomes victimized by street criminals.

Needed: Security Measures for BPO Employees

While enjoying my mom’s Mexican recipes, I scanned the net for BPO news from India and realized that crime directed towards employees of outsourcing companies have increased and reached alarming levels. Female employees travelling to and from their offices late at night have become vulnerable to stick ups artists, some of whom are violent. The solution is easy but a bit costly. Company transport and accredited cabs can drastically increase the safety margin for the employees. Personal protection lessons should also be given more emphasis and become a part of an employee’s performance appraisal criteria.

Public Sector Outsourcing

In most economies, the idea of public sector outsourcing is as sound as wearing a magnetic bracelet. Most government entities are seen as inefficient and expensive making it unable to compete with private enterprises. The private sectors exposure to the latest trends and systems as well as its characteristic of being more adaptive to change easily makes it a better candidate of being a provider of public services.

A medical Issue in Outsourcing

For centuries already, acne has been a part of man’s evolution. In the outsourcing world where people work late hours, the occurrence of these skin breakouts is quite common. Stress and abnormal sleeping habits is partly to blame for it, at least according to conventional wisdom. Medications, in my experience has greatly improved during the past years and hopefully, the trend will continue.

Making Sure...

For the outsourcing workers, whether home or office based, insurance is a great necessity. A good thing is, we can now get online term life insurance quotes from reputable companies and make a good comparison. Office based employees are prone to night shifts and going home beyond the normal hours makes people prone to accidents and illnesses. Getting a good insurance coverage is therefore very necessary for people like us.

Cafeteria talk

I once mentioned the usual need for acne products by employees of BPO firms, most especially, the call centers. The irregular working hours in order to meet the time zones of their clients, that are situated a few continents away, makes it very stressful for the often very young call center agents. Because of that, it is not uncommon to hear cafeteria talk about pimples and acne that are plaguing the employees. For the enterprising souls out there, it will be good to hook this pimpled faces to the proper medications.

Outsourcing Business Idea

It takes a while to come up with a new outsourcing variant but here is probably something. Outsourcing instructors in a truck driving school is probably good. A school can be established and instructors be made to report based on certain schedules – but not full time. They can be hired from other driving institutes on a part time basis and will only report during their schedules. Such a system will enable the company to save on regular wages for instructors will only be paid whenever there are enrolled students. It will keep the company overheads low and profits maximized

This system is generally sound but just to make sure, please consult your country's labor laws before using such a system.
