PHILIPPINE OUTSOURCING INDUSTRY TO EXPERIENCE 40% ANNUAL GROWTH

The outsourcing industry in the Philippines is projected to grow by 40% annually for the next three years.

Here are some current figures:

Revenue for the engineering aspect of the local offshoring and outsourcing industry went up by 124 percent to $152 million last year.
The software aspect posted a 56-percent growth to $423 million.
The contact center a export revenue was at $3.6 billion (53-percent growth).
Back office for non-voice BPO reported revenue worth $392 billion. Transcription non-voice posted a revenue of $197 million while animation had $105 million.
In terms of employment, there was a 27-percent increase in manpower in 2006 or a total of 320,000 employed workers. In the next three years, the industry needs to hire 600,000 more workers to achieve the goal of 920,000.
